        Communications Across Three Hierarchies

        Connect Programming Devices to monitor and program the local node or go through Host Link, SYSMAC LINK, Controller Link, Ethernet, or SYSMAC BUS/2 networks to monitor and program other nodes.         Ethernet

        The CVM1 communicates easily with computers via an Ethernet network using the TCP/IP or UDP/IP international protocols. FINS (Factory Interface Network Service), a message communications protocol developed by OMRON for its FA controllers, also enables easy reading and writing of PC memory.

        Double Power Supply Units and CPU Units Offer High Reliability 

        CVM1D Programmable Controllers inherit the advantages from the CV/CVM1 Series and go a step further by incorporating double systems for higher reliability.

        These PCs are available as a simplex system with double Power Supply Units or as a duplex system with double Power Supply Units and CPU Units. Duplex systems offer even higher reliability than conventional CV/CVM1-series systems.

        Duplex System 
        Hot Standby Method

         The hot standby method is a method where the two CPU units are simultaneously performing calculating functions. One CPU Unit performs control functions and the other is placed on standby while it is executing the calculating functions. 

         If the CPU Unit performing control functions detects an error and stops, then control functions switch immediately over to the CPU Unit that is on standby. The two CPU Units are synchronized to process program, data memory, timer, counter, and other data in order to ensure a smooth transition between them.

        Online I/O Unit Switching 

        I/O Units on CPU, CPU Expansion, and I/O Expansion Racks can be replaced from the Programming Console while the system is running unless a Special I/O Unit is mounted on the same Rack.

        Advanced Communications Functions

        Compatibility with information-based networks

        Data can be exchanged with a host computer through an Ethernet Unit via the TCP/IP, UDP/IP and FTP information-based network protocols.

        Communications between CVM1 and CV, CVM1 and C, as well as between CVM1 Units 

        Controller Link, SYSMAC LINK or other Link Units can be used to build networks that link Programmable Controllers for C, CV, and CVM1 Units.

        Building multi-vendor networks using CompoBus/D 

        CompoBus/D can be used to build a component bus capable of controlling a maximum of 63 Remote I/O Units, or a combines maximum of 2,048 I/O points. Since CompoBus/D conforms to DeviceNet standards, any DeviceNet slave units made it the world can be used on the network.

        In the past, I/O refresh processing with the CPU Bus Unit only occurred during I/O refresh after instructions were executed. With the new CS1, however, I/O can be refreshed immediately by using the DLNK instruction. Immediate refreshing for processes peculiar to the CPU Bus Unit, such as for data links and DeviceNet remote I/O communications, and for allocated CIO Area/DM Area words when instructions are executed, means greater refresh responsiveness for CPU Bus Units.

        The CS1 CPU Units boast amazing capacity with up to 5,120 I/O points, 250 Ksteps of programming, 448 Kwords of data memory (including expanded data memory) and 4,096 timers/counters each.         The new CS1 can convert ASCII character strings read from measurement devices by serial communications to floating-point decimal data for use in data processing.

        PID Autotuning

        The new CS1 can autotune PID constants with a PID control instruction.
        The limit cycle method is used for autotuning, so the tuning is completed quickly. This is particularly effective for multiple-loop PID control.

        Highly Accurate Positioning with XY Tables

        The new CS1 has many double-precision processing instructions for floating-point decimal operations, enabling positioning with greater accuracy.

        Error Status Generation for Debugging

        A specified error status can be simulated by executing the diagnostic instructions (FAL/FALS). With the new CS1, debugging is simple for applications that display messages on a PT or other display device based on the error status of the CPU Unit.

        Easy Reading of Maintenance Data via DeviceNet (for CPU Unit Ver. 2.0 or Later)

        The addition of special explicit message instructions makes it easy to send explicit messages without having to consider FINS commands. Transferring data among PLCs with explicit messages is also simplified.

        Simpler Ladder Programs

        Ladder programs that use a lot of basic instructions can be simplified using differentiation instructions LD NOT, AND NOT, and OR NOT, and instructions that access bits in the DM and EM Areas.

        Binary Set Values for Timer/Counter Instructions

        The SV for a timer or counter instruction can be specified using either BCD or binary. Using binary SV enables longer timers and higher-value counters.

        Features of SYSMAC CPM2A Programmable Controller

        Synchronized Control

        Synchronized pulse control multiplies the frequency of a pulse input by a preset scaling factor and generates a synchronized pulse output at that frequency. The scaling factor can be changed from the ladder program, so packaging can continue while adjusting the feed rate of packaging film or the position of labels.

        High Speed Processing

        High-speed processing include the 50-µs quick-response inputs, improved scan time (up to 500 program steps in 1 ms), and interrupts. Improved processing can increase productivity; for example, the timing between detection of a label mark and detection of the product can be adjusted.

        High Speed Counters

        The CPM2A support one-axis high-speed counters(20kHz single-phase or 5kHz two-phase) and four-axis high speed counters(2 kHz single-phase only). The length of workpieces such as cardboard or string can be measured at high speed.

        Position Control Functions 

        Supports a one-axis pulse output(10kHz) with trapezoidal acceleration and deceleration and two-axis simple pulse output.

        Temperature Control and Monitoring 

        Mount a Temperature Sensor Unit to monitor and control temperatures using PID instruction operands and ON/OFF output signals sent with the PWM instruction. Use in combination with a PT for simple temperature monitoring and setting.

        Analog Control Function 

        Analog control is possible using the optional Analog I/O Unit which can be interfaced to wide range of I/O devices via analog voltage or current signal.. Input from pressure sensors. Output to inverters. Interfaces with a wide range of devices.

        DC power supply models are equipped with two analog inputs (0 to 10 V). There are four analog comparators. The increased precision makes it even easier to use the Unit in simple control applications with voltage, current, temperature, and other analog values.

        8-digit Counter, 150-Hz Counter
        • An 8-digit counter and 8-digit comparator have been added.
        • The maximum count for DC power supply models is 150 Hz.

        Twin-timer Operation Added
        Twin-timer operation allows you to set ON and OFF times separately, greatly simplifying intermittent operation.
